There are various ways to heat domestic hot water with oil.
Electric hot water heater connected to oil burner.
Today we are going to talk about the latter.
You can have a heating coil inside your furnace an indirect fired water heater connected to your furnace or a stand alone oil fired hot water heater.
When you disconnect your hot water from your oil boiler it reduces the need for the boiler to cycle and burn oil in the warmer months of year.
The hot outlet from the tankless coil would be connected to the hot water side left of the water heater.
The other primary option for using a heating system to produce hot water is to install an indirect or indirect fired water heater.
All water heaters have one job.
There is of course a slight increase in your electric bill each month to run the hot water tank.
This means less cost on oil for the year.
Tank style water heaters electric gas or oil tankless on demand or instantaneous water heaters.
You could also preheat the water going into the water heater but after a while the coil may get clogged up and your water pressure would be suffer.
This is a separate insulated water tank that is heated using hot water from the gas or oil fired boiler.
This is how i made a water heater from an old gas hot water service and converted it to run on waste oil instead of gas.
To heat water that is used for showers sinks dishwashers and washing machines.
The indirect tank is usually plumbed to be a separate zone on the heating system.
